CATCHING UP AND SELF-CARE STUFF

IT'S BEEN AWHILE

hello, bobats! it's been a minute since my last blog post! thanks so much for your patience as i get this new post sorted out! 💖

honestly, i haven't been up to a whole lot since my last blog entry! just the usual streaming, art, and surviving! things have been pretty rough with money and health issues that i won't get into, but i'm doing my best to make the best of my current situation. that brings us right into the topic of today's blog post: self-care!

today i'd like to write about the things that i do to practice self-care as a bit of a reminder to myself and to hopefully inspire others to take care of themselves! i hope that you can find some inspiration in this post!

MY SELF-CARE SUGGESTIONS

alrighty, here are a few things (in no particular order) that i like to do to practice self-care! feel free to try these yourself; i hope you find them relaxing!

a note before we begin though: i am not a doctor or anything like that!!! please talk to your doctor if you are concerned about your mental or physical health.

  • hang out with some friends: this always helps to cheer me up and make me feel happy! i will admit, it can be hard for me to ask friends to hang out sometimes. my anxiety is quite bad and i have a lot of trouble with socializing, but once i start chatting with a friend the anxiety usually begins to fade. even just being in a quiet Discord call with a friend while you both work on seperate things (shoutout to parallel play) can be enlightening!
  • play some video games: there are so many video games that can be relaxing and fun! some of my favourites are Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, VRChat, PowerWash Simulator, and many more! i often find that getting sucked into a video game can really distract me from my stress, anxiety, and depression. even better, you can combine playing a video game with hanging out with a friend! all of the games that i listed here can be played with friends!
  • physical self-care: taking a shower or bath (i wish i had a bathtub in my current place), washing your hair, putting on some nice perfume/body spray, doing makeup, or applying a face mask are all things that help me feel better about myself and improve my mood! you could even take a nap! physical health and mental health are both so important and so interconnected; taking care of one can help improve the other!
  • spend time outside: i love to get outside and enjoy the beautiful sun! getting that extra vitamin D and soaking up the sun's rays really helps me feel more relaxed, and it sometimes helps me sleep better! you don't need to go for a walk or exercise to enjoy the outdoors, but that's another great self-care idea! just sitting outside and photosynthesizing helps me calm down and feel a bit better.

FINAL THOUGHTS

i know that these methods may not work for everyone, and that's okay! i'd love to hear what works for you or your favourite ways to practive self-care! i was about to suggest that you leave a message in my guestbook, but apparently the service will be shutting down on July 1st? i guess i'll be looking for a new guestbook! feel free to contact me via any of the links in my sidebar to let me know about your self-care routine or suggest a new guestbook for me to use!

thank you again so much for reading my blog! i enjoy writing these silly little posts for you to read. i hope you enjoyed reading this and i can't wait for the next blog post!

take care! 💖
